Homesteading, where to start?

Blog Posts

So you want to start homesteading? I have found this can mean a lot of different things to different people which is one of the best things about it! You can start wherever with whatever you have and grow from there!

Whether you are living in a high-rise apartment in the city or a townhouse in the suburbs or you just moved into the country with a little bit of land we all start somewhere and I’m happy you are here!

There are so many different things you can do to start homesteading so let’s go over just a few things, don’t get overwhelmed by the list I’m about to throw at you because my goal today is that you get inspired to start just ONE of these things and then grow and learn more from there!

Gardening – Gardening is genuinely so fulfilling planting something and watching it grow and then being able to eat it, or gift it!

Sourdough/Baking – I just started making sourdough about a month ago and it has been a journey I honestly love it so much you can be so creative with it, try new things, it has so many health benefits and best of all it tastes DELICIOUS!

Homemade Soap and Deodorant– Knowing what is going into the products you and your family are using is one of the best feelings and it’s fun to experiment with different scents, consistencies, and designs.

Chickens – Chickens are one thing that isn’t really possible for apartments but could be for suburban living and definitely for country living. I always recommend getting chickens if you can because they are so much fun and fairly low-maintenance if you do not have too many and it is so much fun to be able to collect and eat your own eggs!

Again these are just a few things you can start with but there is so much more to come!
